Passport Application - You Shouldn’t Hold It Before The Last Minute

When dealing with the government, there is a variety of different forms. The range of factors to consider is wide when applying for a passport such as which pasport application is the right one. Below are helpful hints to narrow down the correct forms for your individual needs.
The Standard DS-11 passport application forms are the correct forms for first time applicants. The Standard DS-11 form gives the guidelines and information correctly submitting necessary pieces of information and basic information regarding the individual applying. For first time applicants, whether adults and minors, this form will direct the applicant to any other documents or information needed to finish the application process.
In order for an existing passport to be renewed, a DS-82 form must be completed. Similar information will be asked for on a form that already exists on the original passport as a way of confirming that the passport holder has not changed information since its initial date of issue. This is a standard form and the original passport must be sent in with this form to be processed.
Two forms, a DS-11 and the DS-64, must be filed when a passport has been lost or stolen. As said earlier, the DS-11 is the original application; the DS-64 reports when the individual realized the passport was missing. Both forms must be sent into the issuing bureau filled out completely so that the issuing bureau can document the loss properly in the event that the original passport is found. If the original passport is located after the new passport is received, the old passport must be sent back to the bureau to be cancelled and will be resent to the original passport holder.
For an information update or a name change, a DS-5504 form needs to be finished. The existing passport must be sent in with this form with proper documentation supporting any changes to the bureau that issued the original passport. A Court document or marriage certificate that has been certified by the Court must be submitted for individuals that have married or had a legal name change.
There is even a form for simply adding pages to an existing passport and this is a DS-4085. This form needs to be filled out absolutely and sent in with the old passport. The old passport must contain between 2 and 4 unused pages in order to qualify to have new ones added. If it contains more than this, it will not be honored for additional pages by the issuing agency.
A few common items go along with many of the passport applications. One is the need for the majority of these to have new pics accompany them for processing. Be sure to have the photos taken by someone well versed in what the government requires for passport pics.
